How to Get Your Real Estate License

2. Complete 3 Required Real Estate Courses
Now you're ready to start learning! Our program makes it easy for you to obtain your printable course certificates in as fast as 54 days. Why 54 days? You must wait 18 days per course before taking a course final exam (18 days x 3 courses = 54 day minimum).
3. Apply for Your License and State Exam
When you complete your real estate classes, you earn 3 certificates. Submit your application packet with certificates online to the Department of Real Estate (DRE). Our team is helps you submit your application. We put together a comprehensive checklist to ensure you've got everything covered.
4. Study and Pass the Real Estate Exam
Included in all of our real estate course program is access to our online exam prep. Also, you get special pricing for our real estate crash course. This is where you'll take unlimited practice tests and utilize our digital flashcards to ensure you pass the exam on your first try.
5. Start Your Career

FREQUENCY OF TRAINING -- (How many classes are included?)
If you choose weekdays - 2 times a week (6 two-hour sessions a month)
If you choose Saturdays - once a week (3 four-hour sessions a month)
Classes are held for the first 3 weeks of each month, and the 4th week you will have off to take the quizzes and complete the course final exam online.
DURATION OF CLASSES -- (How long do I have access to the classes?)
You will receive 3 consecutive months of training. You will cover 1 course a month. Concurrently, you receive 6 months of online access to the courses to read the e-Books, take chapter quizzes, and pass the course final exams. Keep in mind, the chapter quizzes and course exams are OPEN BOOK!

*Supplemental Training is optional to the required online material and does not cover every topic in all 3 textbooks. This training, led by experienced realtors, will help you understand the important vocabulary and concepts from the textbooks, show you how they apply to day-to-day situations as an agent, and get your questions answered while networking with fellow classmates.

FAQs about Getting Your License in California
To make the process easier, here are the most common questions we get from students becoming agents about what it takes to get licensed and start a career in real estate.
How much agents make depends on three factors: frequency of home sales, the value of the homes sold, and the commission rate. In reality, there is no limit to how much money real estate agents make.
The average home value in California is around $700,000, which means you could earn $14,700 after selling it (given average 3% commission split and 70% brokerage split.)
$14,700 is a lot of money in one check. At that value, you only need 7 deals in one year to make $100,000. That's great!
Keep in mind that real estate agents and real estate brokers do not receive a salary or hourly wage.
A real estate license in California costs between $477 to $740. This list itemizes the fees and costs associated with your real estate license:

Real estate license reciprocity allows agents to transfer their license from one state to another. This means a licensed agent in one state can work as a licensed agent in another state without obtaining a new license.
California is among the few states that do not have reciprocity with other states. If you are a licensed agent in another state, you must go through the California's licensing process and pass the state exam.
In California, licenses must be renewed every four years. The renewal process includes:
