Sign up for the required number of CE hours specific to your state’s regulations before your license renewal deadline. Each state mandates different requirements, typically including a mix of mandatory and elective courses to keep you informed about updates in laws, ethics, and industry standards.
CE courses can typically be completed online, in-person, or through live virtual formats, depending on your state’s approved options. Ensure you fulfill both core and elective requirements within the designated timeframe, covering subjects relevant to your practice and state guidelines.
After completing the courses, your education provider will usually report your credits directly to your state’s real estate licensing authority. Be sure to keep your certificates of completion and renew your license through your state’s portal before it expires to stay in compliance.

NEW MEXICO REAL ESTATE LICENSE RENEWAL
In New Mexico, real estate brokers must complete 36 hours of continuing education every three years to maintain an active license. The breakdown of required CE hours is as follows:
Brokers offering property management services are required to complete additional courses specific to the type of property management they provide (residential or commercial), which are included in their total elective hours.
If a broker fails to complete the required core course for any given year, they must take a 30-hour Broker Basics course as a penalty and will receive no CEUs for this course.
All CE hours must be completed before the license renewal deadline, which is every three years from the licensee’s initial licensure date.
