Sign up for the required number of CE hours specific to your state’s regulations before your license renewal deadline. Each state mandates different requirements, typically including a mix of mandatory and elective courses to keep you informed about updates in laws, ethics, and industry standards.
CE courses can typically be completed online, in-person, or through live virtual formats, depending on your state’s approved options. Ensure you fulfill both core and elective requirements within the designated timeframe, covering subjects relevant to your practice and state guidelines.
After completing the courses, your education provider will usually report your credits directly to your state’s real estate licensing authority. Be sure to keep your certificates of completion and renew your license through your state’s portal before it expires to stay in compliance.

SOUTH DAKOTA REAL ESTATE LICENSE RENEWAL
In South Dakota, real estate professionals, including both Broker Associates and Responsible Brokers, are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education (CE) every two years to maintain an active license. This includes 12 mandatory hours, which cover topics such as License Law, Fair Housing, and Ethics. The remaining 12 hours can be fulfilled through elective courses that focus on various real estate-related subjects, allowing licensees to stay informed on industry trends and enhance their skills.
All CE courses must be approved by the South Dakota Real Estate Commission. Both Broker Associates and Responsible Brokers must renew their licenses by November 30th of every even-numbered year. Continuing education can be completed through online or in-person classes, providing flexibility for licensees to meet their requirements conveniently.
