Below is an overview of the Wyoming Real Estate Commission (WREC) continuing education (CE) requirements for Sales/Associate Broker and Responsible Broker licensees. Although both license types follow a three-year renewal cycle, Responsible Brokers have additional mandatory hours, resulting in a total of 53 hours over three years rather than 45.

Sales/Associate Broker CE Requirements

• 45 total hours of CE per 3-year cycle
  • 24 required hours, which include:
    • Three annual 3-hour Core Courses (total of 9 hours over 3 years)
    • An additional 15 hours from the Commission’s list of “required” courses
  • 21 elective hours, which can be taken from any WREC-approved elective offerings
• Renewal & Noncompliance: All 45 hours must be completed before license renewal at the end of the 3-year cycle. Failure to complete these hours may lead to license inactivation and late fees. To regain active status, any outstanding CE hours must be completed and all fees paid.

Responsible Broker CE Requirements

• 53 total hours of CE per 3-year cycle
  • 24 required hours, which include:
    • Three annual 3-hour Core Courses (9 hours total)
    • Additional hours designated as “required” to reach the full 24-hour total
  • 8 additional hours of broker-specific coursework (e.g., broker management, supervision, trust accounting)
  • 21 elective hours, chosen from WREC-approved elective courses
• Renewal & Noncompliance: All 53 hours must be completed by the end of the 3-year renewal cycle. Failure to do so may result in an inactive license and potential penalties. Reactivation requires completion of any missing CE plus payment of all applicable fees.
