We offer the education requirements needed to apply for the Broker's License Exam. As a property manager, you must have your Broker's License unless you are the property owner or work for a property management company. We do not offer the required education to receive your property manager certification in California.

It depends on your state! Most states work with a third-party testing provider to administer the exam online. Some require you to take the exam in-person on a scheduled date and time. Check out your state's exam requirements here.

You have two years from the time your license expires to complete the continuing education courses, but you can't conduct any real estate activities during this time. The Department of Real Estate (DRE) eLicensing portal is an online system that you will have access to once you are approved to take the state exam. You will receive a link via email to login. From there, you can schedule your exam date, update your contact information, and receive your license once you pass the state exam. This is also the system you will use when you renew your license every four years.
A real estate broker is an independent agent who has the capability of brokering a real estate deal independently. A real estate sales agent or associate must work under a licensed broker/brokerage. For more information, review our blog post on the difference between these roles.
A live scan is an electronic scan of your finger prints for a background check. The cost for a live scan varies from $60-$80 depending on where you go. Some police stations and UPS locations offer this service. You can also use Google or your preferred search engine to find a live scan provider near you.

In order to apply for the state exam, you must fill out and submit ONE of the following forms: Form RE 435 (Exam & License Combination) or Form RE 400 (Exam only). If you would like to pay for the exam & license fees using a credit card, you must fill out Form RE 909. Form RE 237 Live Scan Service Request Form will also need to be included. In addition to the necessary forms, you will need to include a copy of your course certificates. If you fail the state exam, you can apply to retake it the next day, based on test date availability. You will have to pay the $60 exam fee again, but you do not need to mail in another exam application.

If you are unable to attend a live training session, you will still meet the required set of hours. In-class training is purely supplemental. Therefore, your attendance is not mandatory and you will not be penalized. Your hours and requirements mandated by the Department of Real Estate (DRE) are met by completing your online coursework. If you would like to make-up for a missed training session, we recommend purchasing the $5 chapter videos in your student portal.
The state exam features 7 different categories which are covered within all courses that we offer. Once you receive your course certificates, you will mail the certificates along with your application and live scan form to the DRE to process and approve. We require students to wait 18 days from their original start date on a course before they can take the final course exam. By requiring this for all three courses, students are able to meet the 135 hour requirement set by the DRE. Aside from the 18 day minimum, completing your coursework is self-paced. You have six months in total from your date of purchase to complete your courses and obtain your course certificates. The fastest you can complete your coursework is 54 days total (18 days x 3 courses).
If you need more time, you can purchase a course extension for $25 per course, which will let you pick up right where you left off for another 6 months. After you've hit the year mark from the date you enrolled in our program, you will have to re-enroll in the program by paying $25 per course.
If you missed a session or two, no worries! Live training is purely supplemental to your online coursework. Therefore, you will not be penalized for lack of attendance. To catch up, you can purchase chapter videos as needed for $5 each in your student portal. If you know will be missing classes for an extended period, contact a student advisor at (310)-844-0840 to place your live training on hold.

To protect the integrity of our testing, you can not view the answers to your course final exams. You can, however, view the answers to your chapter quizzes once you pass each quiz with a 60% or higher. You can view your previous quiz attempts by going to the "Resources" tab in your Student Portal. From there you will select the "Exam/Quiz Logs" category. This can be a great study stool as you can take note of the correct answers as well as wrong answers.

Our installment plan applies to the Live Training + Online package only. Utilizing the payment plan adds a $30 administrative fee to your total and breaks the total down into 3 separate installments. You would pay the first installment at the time of enrolling, which includes the administrative fee as well as potential shipping and tax. Exactly 30 days after your first installment, your subsequent payment would be charged automatically. This will occur once more for the third and final installment.

There are many factors to consider when picking a brokerage. Some examples are: the office culture, the level of technical and service support, the quality of their new agent training program, the commission split, and the ongoing career support for existing agents.
You're ready to take and pass the state exam when you can complete at least 5 Salesperson or Broker practice exams - depending on what you're studying for - with a minimum score of 80% or higher on each attempt. The Salesperson and Broker practice exams mimic the format of the actual test. This means you'll have the same amount of questions and time!
